Gaining fame with stage appearances as Emilia Galotti, Minna von Barnhelm and Medea and her contributions to films by Christian Petzold, Nina Hoss is the bestknown international German actress of her generation. This year, she is on the jury of the International Competition of KINO DER KUNST.

This year, KINO DER KUNST will host Lev Evzovich and Evgeny Svytasky, founding members of the Russian artist collective AES+F, which is renowned for its spectacular video installations. Since the end of the 1980s, the collective has presented its works at the most important worldwide biennials and exhibitions. Following exhibition of the installation The Feast of Trimalcho at the Bavarian Academy of Fine Arts during KINO DER KUNST 2013, their film Inverso Mundus will be part of this years’ International Competition.

Parallel to KINO DER KUNST, the Belgian artist duo Jos de Gruyter & Harald Thys (born 1965 and 1966) presents its profound yet humorous work at the Kunstverein München. Their cross-media works, including film and video, are regularly shown at renowned exhibition spaces such as MoMA PS1 in New York and the Kunsthalle in Vienna.

Iranian artist Shirin Neshat, who lives in New York, has won numerous prizes for her works about the culture clash between the orient and occident, such as her photo series Women of Allah and video installations such as Turbulent (1998) or Rapture (1999). She also won the Silver Lion at the 66th Venice Film Festival for her first feature film Women Without Men. Her most recent short film Roja will be part of the International Competition, and she will present excerpts from her new movie about the legendary Egyptian singer Um Kalzum.
