David Hartt - The Republic, 2014 (16’08”, looped)
Jesper Just - Sirens of Chrome, 2010 (12’38”, looped)
Still aus ‘Sirens of Chrome’ by Jesper Just, 2010

On display are two beautiful examples of dialoguefree films that have a common feature: an es sential film score. The Republic merges footage that David Hartt shot in Athens and Detroit to create a fictional hybrid citystate. It is interspersed with footage of a group of la bourers who flip an automobile as both an invocation of the myth of Sisyphus and a reenactment of civil disorder, two themes further uniting Athens and Detroit. The soundtrack was composed by Sam Prekop. The current exhibition also introduced him as a photographer. Additionally, it presents the short film Sirens of Chrome by Jesper Just, which was also filmed in the “motortown” Detroit. Trentemøller‘s score transforms a mysterious limousine ride with four women into an intensive experience that ends in a conver ted theatre. Other participating artists include Devendra Banhart, Johanna Billing and Tapemosphere.
