A hallucinatory experience on screen.
Soon the Schaustelle of the Pinakothek der Moderne will be openend in the Munich Art Quarter. With the start of our festival on April, 24 2013, we bring our artists to the Schaustelle to talk and show selected projections.
We are pleased that long-term project "The Snorks: A Concert for Creatures" (2012) by the French artist Loris Gréaud will be part of our supporting program. It tests the effect of certain music on the animal inhabitants of the deepest parts of the oceans.
The film „The Snorks: A Concert for Creatures" is the final instalment of this long-term project. Shot around the world, it combines scientific research, poetry, rap music, fireworks and an urban legend into a hallucinatory epic inspired by the discovery of a mysterious world and its inhabitants - the deep sea.
The familiar abstract hip-hop group Anti-Pop Consortium (New York), provides the soundtrack. None other than David Lynch is part of the film and plays the role of the technical narrator. The actress Charlotte Rampling – known from arthouse films including Luchino Visconti – accompanies the audience with her voice through the whole movie.
Loris Gréaud, born 1979, studied music at the Conservatoire de Musique and graphic arts at the ENSPAC, Paris. He lives in France. In 2005 he was awarded the Prix Ricard. He participated in the Venice Biennale in 2011. Since 2004 his work has been exhibited internationally in solo exhibitions a.o.: Pace, New York; ICA, London; Palais de Tokyo, Paris; Kunsthalle Wien; Kunsthalle St. Gallen; La Conservera, Murcia; Yvon Lambert Gallery, Paris.
Immerse yourself in the hidden world of the unfathomable depths and let yourself be enchanted of the awesome sound of the projection in the new "temporary holding station" for contemporary art – the Schaustelle.
Get into it.
